We, Montana! Freedom Choir is a mixed chorus of about 30 singers, aged 13 and up, under the direction of Jack Pelham.
EVENT: Freedom Choir Spring Concert
DATE: Monday, 17 May, 2021
TIME: 7:00 p.m. (House opens at 6:30.)
LOCATION: Yellowstone Christian College Chapel
AUDIENCE: It’s a family-friendly show with a cry room.
TICKETS: $7 in advance. (See below.) $10 at the door.
Come celebrate the choir’s first year as an ensemble! Our Spring concert features songs of several styles, including Classical, mixed Barbershop, sea shanties, Negro spirituals, patriotic songs, folk songs, some jazz (a shout-out to Harry Connick, Jr.) a 70s rock anthem or two, and even a light-hearted ballad by the Smothers Brothers. We sing mostly unaccompanied, but we do have a few accompanied songs in this show–and there are rumors of a soprano saxophone solo going around! And several of our numbers are original pieces, or are our own arrangements. We also have at least one Beatles tune, though it has been arranged in the style of an Elizabethan madrigal! And you’ll hear several soloists from the choir. Also, several members of our younger ensembles will be joining us for a medley that includes a popular French folk song, Sur le Pont.

FREEDOM CHOIR IS CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR FALL 2021. Our growth is limited by how many basses and tenors we can recruit. If you’re a bass or tenor who is interested, or know someone who might be, please read more here.
This concert would be the perfect opportunity to see what Freedom Choir is like—so please spread the word!
Freedom Choir rehearses Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the We, Montana! Great Room. Fall rehearsals begin on September 13.
Freedom Choir is the most advanced choir in the We, Montana! program. We have 3 other ensembles at present. One is from 3-6 years old, one is 7-9, and one is 9 and up, including parents and graduated siblings.
This Fall (2021), we have designs on producing a major event in a large local venue. We’ll announce details soon, but we’re exploring a city-wide Christmas concert and sing-along. So our Fall classes and rehearsals would be largely focused on preparing for that.
WE NEED A PIANO!
We’re appealing to donors to help us acquire an excellent (used) digital mini-grand piano that could otherwise sell to someone else at any time. We’re pretty sure it won’t be available any longer come June, so we’re really hoping to raise the $3000 needed to buy it in time. Otherwise, it would cost twice as much to buy a new one. If you can help, please donate through our PayPal donation portal, or contact Jack Pelham to discuss other arrangements.
